Keynote
In collaboration with Digital Tattoo, IM Conference 2019 will feature a special Keynote with Ryan Merkley, CEO of Creative Commons. CC licenses are the global standard for sharing, supported by an international community in over 80 countries. Merkley is focused on building a vibrant, usable commons powered by collaboration and gratitude. He is also co-producer and host of Plays Well With Others, a podcast about the art, science, and mechanics of collaboration. Last year, CC launched Search, indexing over 270M images online, with a goal of including all of the 1.4 billion CC licensed works on the web. Merkley was previously COO at the Mozilla Foundation, and served as Director of Communications for Vancouver during the 2010 Winter Olympics. As Senior Advisor to former Toronto Mayor David Miller, Merkley led the city’s budget, and launched its Open Data initiative. The Digital Tattoo Project is a joint collaboration of The University of Toronto Inforum Library, University of British Columbia Library, and the UBC Centre for Teaching, Learning & Technology. The goal of the project is to encourage critical thought on your online presence. Digital Tattoo raises questions, and provides examples and links to resources on how to navigate issues involved in forming and re-forming your digital identity, and to learn about your rights and responsibilities as a digital citizen. |
